Service & maintenance
A stairlift is used several times a day, every day, for years. What decides whether that stays trouble-free is not the sale — it’s who answers the phone afterwards.
We service what we install, with our own Otolift-trained technicians and genuine parts held here in Singapore.
Existing owner? Tell us what you need and we’ll come back to arrange a visit.
If the lift has someone stuck upstairs, please call us rather than using this form.
Need help now
Pick whichever applies. If it’s urgent, the phone is always faster than a form.
Due for your yearly check, or not sure when the last one was? We'll look it up and arrange a slot.
The lift has stopped, is making an unfamiliar noise, or a warning light is showing. Call us first.
Batteries wear out on a schedule. Genuine replacements and common spares are held locally.
What we handle
Nothing here is subcontracted. The technician who arrives works for us and has been trained on the equipment by the manufacturer.
A full inspection once a year, at a time arranged with you. You receive a written report of what was checked and the condition of each part.
If the lift stops working, we come out. Because we hold the parts that commonly fail, most faults are resolved on the first visit rather than after a wait for a shipment.
The batteries are what keep the lift running through a power cut, and they are the one component that wears out predictably rather than unexpectedly.
Safety edges, seatbelt, swivel lock, brakes and the emergency stop are all tested and, where required, adjusted. These are the systems that matter most and are checked every visit.
The annual visit
A service visit usually takes under an hour. Here is what happens in it — so you know what you are paying for and can tell whether it was actually done.
Running smoothness, unusual noise, and wear on the drive components.
Bracket tightness, rail alignment and the condition of the track surface.
Braking performance and that the lift stops cleanly at both ends of the rail.
Every obstacle sensor tested to confirm the lift halts when something is in the way.
Belt condition and retraction, and that the seat will not travel while turned.
Charge holding, charge point contact, and remaining useful life estimated.
Armrest switch, remote controls and the key switch all tested from both floors.
Folding mechanisms, upholstery condition and that everything locks in position.
If anything needs replacing, we tell you what it is, what it costs and how urgent it is — then let you decide. We don’t replace parts and invoice afterwards.
Service plans
Your warranty covers the first period after installation. After that, a plan keeps the lift maintained and the callout arrangements already agreed — rather than negotiated on the day something goes wrong.
Included
Cover from the day the lift is handed over.
Included with every installation.
Most chosen
One scheduled visit a year, booked so you don’t have to remember it.
Priced on request — ask us and we’ll tell you before you commit to anything.
Ad hoc
No plan, no commitment. Call us when you need us.
Charged per visit. You’ll get the price before we book.
Not our installation?
If your stairlift was fitted by someone else, or the supplier is no longer contactable, tell us the make and model and we’ll let you know honestly whether we can service it — and say so plainly if we can’t.
Common questions
If your question isn’t answered here, call us. We’d rather explain it than have you worry about it.
Once a year for normal household use. That single visit covers the safety checks, the moving parts and the battery condition. If the lift is used very heavily — several people, many trips a day — we’ll tell you if a second visit makes sense rather than assume it does.
Three things, in order. Check the seat and footrest are fully folded down and the seat is locked facing forward — the lift will not move otherwise. Check the chair is parked properly on a charging point. Check the isolator switch or plug at the wall is still on.
If all three are right and it still won’t move, stop and call us. Don’t force the chair along the rail.
[CLIENT: confirm typical battery life in years]. We check battery condition at every annual visit and tell you when replacement is getting close, so it’s a planned job rather than a breakdown.
Often, yes. Tell us the make and model — it’s usually printed on the chair or under the seat — and we’ll say honestly whether we can service it. If we can’t get parts for it, we’ll tell you that plainly rather than take the booking and disappoint you later.
It depends on the lift and whether you’re on a plan or booking a one-off visit. You’ll get the price before we book anything, and if the visit uncovers work beyond the service itself, we quote that separately and wait for your go-ahead.
We’re an authorised Otolift distributor, so parts come through the manufacturer’s own supply chain rather than a third party. That’s the main practical reason to buy from an authorised dealer — the support doesn’t depend on one small company staying in business.
